Have you heard of Mindfulness? Do you enjoy “flow state” when you’re able to achieve it in your work day? Technology has given us some of the most rewarding and impactful careers we’ve ever known, but for those who drink deeply of the technology fire-hose the ability to degenerate into a stressed-out workaholic made miserable by unmaintainable anxiety has never been greater. Mindfulness is a modern Meditation practice, but don’t let the baggage of that second “M” word fool you: you don’t need accept any kind of spirituality or political philosophy. Mindfulness focuses on training your mind, learning to be focused on the present moment and better able to accept your thoughts and emotions as they arise rather than “thinking about thinking.” It also gives you some handy exercises to avoid overcooking your bacon when your Thinking Mind starts getting worked up. As a dedicated life-hacker and bio-hacker on a 500-day meditation streak, I can tell you that this is the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. We’ll discuss the science behind Mindfulness, how to apply mindfulness to your day to day life, and we will spend the last 15 minutes of this session in a guided meditation session.
